Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Hello, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the initial in the capital city.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
In a similar vein the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the German anthem. Classy.
Opening Period Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then fumbles … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Tenth Week Games
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
