The Actress Says Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ That’s Ripping the Nation Apart
Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she finds it inappropriate suitable to comment publicly regarding the Trump presidency, fearing it could worsen divisive discussions and further divisions throughout the United States.
‘I Don’t Really Know If I Should’, Explains the Actress
During a discussion, the Oscar winner reflected, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I felt like I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, election after election, public figures do not make a difference in any way on who people vote for.”
She continued, “So then what am I doing? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to heighten conflict dividing the nation apart.”
Shifting Views
Lawrence has previously been open about backing Republican and Democratic presidential nominees throughout her life. Growing up with Republican parents in her home state, she voted for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election before joining the left-leaning politics and stating she recognized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was undermining her personal freedoms as a female citizen.
Past Statements
Several years ago, she remarked that Donald Trump’s election would be “a disaster” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I feel she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will make every effort to protect reproductive rights.”

The star was aligned with most of Hollywood in her disapproval of Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the minimal impact stars have over the electoral decisions was underscored by the outcome.
“Another four years appears changed,” commented she about his leadership. “Because he stated his intentions. We understood his record for four years. He was transparent. And that’s what we chose.”
New Release
Jennifer Lawrence is discussing Die, My Love, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she plays a new mother who struggles with her psychological well-being in a remote area. At a media event for the film in Venice, she spoke about the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s happening is no less than a genocide and it’s horrible.”
Additional Thoughts
She continued by expressing that she was disappointed by “the disrespect in the discussions of American politics at present and how that is going to be normalised to the children now. It’s going to be normal to them that elected officials deceive.”
She aimed to shift anger about the issue to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on who is responsible,” she remarked, seen by observers as a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by numerous entertainment industry figures to boycott specific industry bodies.
Relatable Experiences
The actor, who won an Oscar early in her career for her part in the acclaimed film, is attracting awards attention for her performance in the new film. Although the director has rejected the story being interpreted as one of maternal mental health issues and psychological distress, Lawrence revealed that she identified with parts of her character’s journey after the delivery of her youngest child, not long after production wrapped.
“I felt anxiety for my son,” she said, “imagining every negative outcome, and then doubting everything that I was doing. I was receiving counseling, but I began using a medication called that medicine and I took it for 14 days and it really helped.”
Professional Experiences
The actor also mentioned regarding the freeing requirement of filming without clothes in the film while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.
“It feels nice,” she remarked, of being forced to set aside self-consciousness. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
